Energy Survey Electricity Consumption
The 2005 Residential Energy Consumption Survey conducted by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). This data page shows total electricity consumption in megawatt hours and dollars for one year. The survey is a national area probability sample survey that collects annual energy related data for occupied primary housing units. Electricity Costs are in Millions of Dollars (000,000s).

Remember, this is just electricity use and doesn't include heating oil, natural gas, etc. So you can see the South uses alot of electricity for air conditioning in the summer, but the Northeast uses less electricity because they generally use heating oil to heat in the winter.
